5BTV2-CT Self-regulating trace heating cables
The BTV series self-regulating trace heating cables provide reliable freeze protection for pipes and vessels, as well as process temperature maintenance where steam cleaning is not required. They support process temperatures up to 65°C (150°F) and can withstand intermittent exposure to 85°C (185°F). The polyolefin outer jacket (-CR) offers good resistance to mild inorganic solutions, while the fluoropolymer jacket (-CT) provides enhanced chemical resistance against aggressive organics and corrosives. Available power outputs include 3BTV (9 W/m), 5BTV (16 W/m), 8BTV (25 W/m), and 10BTV (29 W/m) at 10°C.
Key advantages include:
-
Simplified hazardous-area design – Unconditional T6 temperature classification per EN60079-30-1 eliminates the need for sheath temperature calculations or additional controls.
-
Fast, tool-friendly installation – Allows multiple overlaps on valves, flanges, and complex piping; cut-to-length capability; user-friendly connection kits; and clear meter markings on the outer jacket.
-
Safe and energy-efficient operation – Self-regulating technology prevents overheating even when cables overlap, ensures uniform pipe temperatures, and reduces energy consumption. Additional savings can be achieved with control and monitoring systems. The unconditional T6 rating also enables safe installation on plastic pipes without extra controls.
